Our Story

For more than sixty years, God has preserved a church in Albuquerque committed to proclaiming the gospel, teaching His Word, and serving the community.

Our documented history begins in 1961 at 610 Kinley NW in Albuquerque, where the Bible Missionary Church established its local ministry. Early records tell a story of faith, sacrifice, and generosity. Among the names appearing throughout those records are C. C. and Dortha P. Davis, who played an important role in helping secure and support the property from which the congregation would worship and minister.

For approximately the next sixteen years, 610 Kinley served as the church’s home. From there, generations of believers gathered for worship, prayer, preaching, and fellowship as a holiness witness was established in Albuquerque.

A New Home on Willow Road

In the late 1970s, the congregation entered a new chapter. In 1977, the Kinley property was transferred to the Church of God, and the church began its transition to 355 Willow Road NW.

By 1978, official property records identified Bible Missionary Church with the Willow Road property—the same location from which our congregation continues to minister today.

Establishing the church at Willow required sacrifice. Records from 1979 show the congregation taking on financial obligations as it established the ministry at its new home. Those obligations were eventually marked paid in full in 1986, a testimony to the faithfulness and commitment of those who came before us.

Becoming Bible Holiness Church

Another important chapter began in 1989, when the congregation voted to change its legal name from Bible Missionary Church to Bible Holiness Church.

The State of New Mexico formally approved the change in 1990, and the church property was transferred into the Bible Holiness Church name. This was not the beginning of a new congregation, but the continuation of the same church and ministry that had been serving Albuquerque for decades.

Rev. Delbert Lanham served as pastor during this important period of transition and appears throughout the documents that formalized the change to Bible Holiness Church.

In the years that followed, Rev. David Wiseman served the congregation as pastor and helped carry the ministry into another generation.

A New Connection

Following Pastor Wiseman’s departure, the congregation once again faced the question of how to strengthen and continue the ministry that had been entrusted to it.

In 2024, the church voted to join the Southwest Bible Methodist Connection of Churches for fellowship, support, and continued ministry. This affiliation did not change the church’s legal identity—Bible Holiness Church remained the same local congregation and corporation—but connected the church with a larger fellowship committed to supporting its continued ministry in Albuquerque.

Through that connection, Pastor Jordan Sankey came to Albuquerque in 2025 and began serving the congregation.

Our Story Continues

Today, we minister publicly as Rock of Ages Church, while our historic and legal name remains Bible Holiness Church.

The names, pastors, buildings, and generations have changed over the years, but the mission remains:

to proclaim Jesus Christ, faithfully teach the Word of God, grow in grace, make disciples, and provide a church home for the people of Albuquerque.

We are grateful for the men and women who prayed, preached, gave, worked, sacrificed, and remained faithful through every season. Their faithfulness gave us a heritage worth honoring.

And we believe our story is still being written.
